Your Guide to the RetailMeNot Rewards App

Back up those photos to the cloud, delete that random bird-calling app you never use, and make room for the RetailMeNot Rewards app.

During these hectic economic times, we’re all looking for ways to cut costs. Why wouldn’t you take the opportunity to not only save while you shop, but literally earn money, too?

RetailMeNot Rewards app key features

To give you a sense of what you can expect to find on the RetailMeNot Rewards app, here’s a breakdown of the key features currently available and how they’ll make your shopping experience easier (and more rewarding):

  • Working Code Promise: Exclusive to the RetailMeNot Rewards app, this is as simple as it sounds. All promo codes featured within the app have been verified. This means rather than spending hours trying different promo codes at checkout, only to be met with a “code invalid” message, you can click the code in the app and know that the savings you see are the savings you’ll get.*
  • Guaranteed Savings: Speaking of savings, you are guaranteed to save on the RetailMeNot Rewards app every time you shop. More than 3,500 merchants on the app feature a cash back offer of at least 1%.
  • Monthly Bonus: This app-exclusive loyalty program allows you to earn up to $50 every month! All you have to do is make two qualifying purchases of at least $25 to earn $5, which can be repeated. Every month, your progress resets.
  • Scout Price™ (Beta): This tool, featuring RetailMeNot’s proprietary pricing technology, helps you get the full savings picture on a wide variety of products. It does the math for you, breaking down not only which retailers are offering the best price, but what you will actually pay after factoring in cash back and applicable coupon codes.

Working Code Promise

Spend a little time in the RetailMeNot Rewards app, visiting your favorite retailers’ pages and filling up carts, and you’ll quickly understand the “promise” behind the Working Code Promise.

Today at GAP, for example, there is a code available for an extra 10% off. When I apply this code to the cart I made, it works. When you’re using the RetailMeNot Rewards app, you don’t have to hesitate or second guess if a code will actually work at checkout.

Does the RetailMeNot Rewards app Working Code Promise mean that I will always have a promo code to use at checkout?

No, the RetailMeNot Rewards app Working Code Promise does not mean that you will always have a coupon or promo code available to use at every retailer featured within the app. The promise is that when a code is featured in the RetailMeNot Rewards app, it will work on applicable purchases.

For example, if the GAP code mentioned above was specifically for sale items and I was buying something full price, the code would not be valid. A brand’s own terms and conditions for their codes still apply. When it is applicable to your purchase, the code shown in the app will work.

Guaranteed Savings

Guaranteed savings might sound too good to be true, but it’s legit. More than 3,500 retailers featured in the RetailMeNot Rewards app have a guaranteed cash back offer of at least 1%! This means, whether you’re buying a designer bag from Nordstrom, ordering sushi via UberEats, or purchasing your toothpaste from CVS, you’ll walk (or scroll) away with savings.

What is cash back?

The way cash back works is that after you make a purchase (after following a link from the RetailMeNot Rewards app), you will receive a % back from that total in cash. In about 45 days, your cash back will appear in your RetailMeNot digital wallet. You can then redeem it and send the money to your Venmo or PayPal account.

If you spent $50 and had 5% cash back, after receiving your cash back payout, the amount you paid in total is $47.50.

Screenshot of Guaranteed Savings in the RetailMeNot App on gradient background

Are cash back offers the same in the RetailMeNot Rewards app as they are online?

No, cash back offers in the RetailMeNot Rewards app are not the same as they are online. At select retailers and during specific periods, RetailMeNot Rewards members can earn more cash back by shopping through the app.

RetailMeNot Rewards Monthly Bonus

Wouldn’t you love to have an extra $50 every month to keep your coffee shop fund in flush? We’ve got you. After making two qualifying purchases of at least $25 two times in a month (when shopping via the RetailMeNot Rewards app), you’ll earn $5. You can earn up to $50 in total over the course of the month. Each month the count towards this bonus resets.

To know which purchases qualify for contribution towards the monthly bonus, look for the blue diamond symbol at your selected retailer in the app (symbol pictured below).

Screenshot of Monthly Bonus elligible brands feature on smartphone on the RetailMeNot Rewards app, set on gradient background

Does the RetailMeNot Rewards Monthly Bonus reset based on my sign-up date or the calendar month?

The RetailMeNot Rewards app Monthly Bonus resets based on the calendar month. So if you download the app on September 23, you’ll have one week to earn your monthly bonus. Then, in October, a fresh month will start, and you have the chance to earn a $50 bonus again.

Screenshot of Monthly Bonus feature on smartphone on the RetailMeNot Rewards app, set on gradient background

Online shopping today is incredibly overwhelming, and Smart Search is here to make things a little easier on you. Shopping for a TV and curious to see which retailers have the best cash back offers? Type “best cash back on TVs” into Smart Search. Looking to see which retailers are hosting mattress sales? Type “mattress” into Smart Search. This tool is still in development, but it already functions as an extra helpful directory to help you find what you’re looking for in the app, especially if you’re not sure which retailer you want to turn to.

Scout Price (Beta)

This feature is in beta mode, but you would never guess it based on what you’ll see in the app. Scout Price helps to alleviate that mind-boggling experience of comparing prices on a specific product at various retailers, while also trying to factor in coupon codes and cash back offers. All the math is broken down for you.

Here are two examples of products featured in the app today.

Ulta Beauty Collection Porchlight Pumpkin 3-Wick Candle

Screenshot of Scout Price feature on Ulta candle in smartphone on the RetailMeNot Rewards app, set on gradient background

In the case of this Ulta candle, it is exclusive to Ulta so no comparison is necessary. But how great is it to see the actual price you’ll pay at checkout after stacking savings, factoring in sales and cash back? It really helps you get a sense of what will fit your budget, so you don’t have your heart set on something in your cart only to find out it won’t be a feasible fit.

Breville – the Barista Express Impress Espresso Machine – Brushed Stainless Steel

Screenshot of Scout Price feature on Breville in smartphone on the RetailMeNot Rewards app, set on gradient background

Meanwhile, with the Breville Barista Espresso Machine, you can see what the final price will be at Macy’s, Target, and Bloomingdale’s — and the fact that these three retailers are currently offering the best price on this product has already been factored in.

In this situation, Macy’s and Bloomingdales’ have the same lowest final price. To decide between the two, you can factor in your own needs. Are you a rewards member at either retailer? Do you have a gift card to use? Do you want to pick-up in-store and one is more convenient? Those personal decisions are left for you to make, but you are able to make them with the knowledge that you are getting the best price already.

Screenshot of Scout Price feature on Breville in smartphone on the RetailMeNot Rewards app, set on gradient background

*Working Code Promise: Note that a merchant can change codes on their end, resulting in a 24-hour period where a code is no longer eligible for use but still temporarily appears in the app. In addition, some codes are sourced by our community, but those are clearly labeled to showcase they have not gone through the RetailMeNot team.

100 Days Until Christmas, and the Holiday Shopper Already Has a Plan

RetailMeNot’s September 2026 survey of 1,183 shoppers found that 41% start holiday shopping before October and 90% stack savings at least sometimes. The picture is a holiday shopper who starts earlier, compares before buying, and looks past the advertised discount to the real final price.

We’re 100 days out from Christmas, which every retail calendar still files under early. A quarter of shoppers already disagree, in the form of receipts. They started before September, and 41% will be shopping before October, according to RetailMeNot’s Q4 2026 survey of 1,183 shoppers. The early ones came in with a plan. They’ve stopped taking the advertised price as the real one, and they’re deciding for themselves what something is worth.

  • Early Shoppers: 41% of consumers begin holiday shopping before October, with 25% starting before September.
  • Stacking Savings: 90% of shoppers combine multiple ways to save (promo codes, cash back) on a single purchase, prioritizing overall value over just the lowest tag price.
  • Self-Gifting: Shoppers plan to spend an average of $435 on themselves alongside $589 on gifts for others.
  • Month-Long Black Friday: 58% treat Black Friday as a multi-week event rather than a single weekend, while only 17% wait for Black Friday/Cyber Monday specifically.
  • Cash Back & Real Final Price: 78% state cash back impacts their purchasing decisions, and tools like Scout Price™ calculate the true final price after codes and cash back.
  • Logistics & AI Integration: 34% of last-minute shoppers rely on Buy Online, Pick Up In Store (BOPIS), and 14% use AI tools (ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude) for gift discovery.

How do you tell if a holiday sale is a good deal?

The deal-hunter stereotype is out of date. A big percent-off sign used to close the sale. Now it opens the negotiation, and the shopper decides whether the price holds up. This is someone who compares across sites, stacks whatever savings apply, and won’t buy until the value is there. In RetailMeNot’s survey, 90% said they combine more than one way to save on a single purchase at least sometimes, and 63% do it always or often. More people pick best overall value (25%) than the lowest price (19%), and 79% feel at least somewhat confident they can tell whether a holiday sale is worth it. Separate RetailMeNot research found that only 7% of people finish an online purchase without doing some research first. The goal is to shop smarter, not just cheaper.

How much are people spending on themselves this holiday season?

There’s one more name on the holiday list, and it’s the shopper’s own. Shoppers plan to spend an average of $435 on themselves this season, next to an average of $589 on gifts for others, according to RetailMeNot’s survey. People are buying for themselves during the sales, right alongside everyone else. The sale is the permission slip. It gives people a reason to finally buy the thing they’d been circling for months, and the timing lets them stack savings on it on the way. From the outside, that spending can look impulsive. The timing tells a calmer story: people using holiday pricing to buy something they’d already decided they wanted.

How do you know the real final price before you buy?

Shoppers want to know the real final price before they buy, and the advertised discount is only the first draft of it. A product listed at $50 and marked to $40 might have an eligible promo code and cash back sitting on top of it, which is the difference between a fine deal and a good one. In RetailMeNot’s survey, 78% said cash back matters to their holiday decisions, and 44% called it very important. Another 71% said the economy makes them more likely to reach for promo codes, cash back and other savings offers.

Working all of that out by hand is where most people give up. Scout Price™ in the RetailMeNot Rewards app does the arithmetic for them. It shows the potential final price of a product after a verified promo code and available cash back. The tool starts from the current sale price, finds the best working code, and takes cash back off the discounted total. It checks for fresh codes and offers often, and confirms a code works on that specific product before it counts. Knowing the real final price without opening a dozen tabs is the point.

The app keeps verified promo codes and cash back in one place so shoppers can stack savings and optimize every purchase, and RetailMeNot works directly with merchants to provide active cash back offers and exclusive deals.

When should you buy, and is Black Friday still the best time?

Black Friday moved in for the month. 58% of shoppers now treat it as a season that runs for weeks instead of a single weekend, and 47% plan to buy earlier than last year, according to RetailMeNot’s survey. Only 17% are still holding out for the Black Friday or Cyber Monday date itself. Buying across more weeks is a way to spread the cost over more paychecks.

Waiting still pays in the right spots. While 60% of shoppers said Black Friday has the best prices on at least some things, this is split between 40% who mean most things and 20% who mean certain categories. So it comes down to category. Some things are worth grabbing in October, and others don’t hit bottom until the week of Black Friday.

What’s the smartest way to shop the final stretch?

For last-minute holiday shopping, buy online and pick up in store is how people beat the shipping cutoff. Among shoppers buying within 72 hours of Christmas, 34% plan to use it, ahead of walking into a store to browse at 18% and same-day delivery at 15%. The panic run to the mall has a logistics plan now.

Where people look for gifts is moving too. 14% told RetailMeNot they already use AI tools like ChatGPT, Gemini or Claude for holiday inspiration and gift discovery. That’s an emerging behavior, and it shows where shopping research is headed. Smart Search (beta) in the RetailMeNot Rewards app takes a plain-language request and returns results grounded in live product, pricing and offer data. People want to shop with confidence, sure they got the right thing at a price they can defend.

Shoppers already figured this out on their own. The tools are finally catching up to them.

Proactively planning your personal legacy with LegalZoom

Thinking about how your family will go on after you’re gone isn’t the most exciting rabbit hole you can spiral down. But avoiding that chat about mortality often means that estate planning just never gets done — and that can leave your spouse or kids in a confusing situation when it comes to the assets you’ve left behind.

That’s why LegalZoom helps you proactively protect what matters and square away these important legal moments with assurance and peace of mind. Experienced network attorneys can provide personalized advice about your estate plan and help you communicate your wishes clearly to your loved ones, even when you’re no longer able to do so yourself.

You can task LegalZoom with helping you set up your Advance Healthcare Directive (Living Will) to establish your medical preferences for end-of-life care and designate your medical power of attorney. Or, you can utilize LegalZoom’s more comprehensive Estate Plans that help you set up a Last Will or Living Trust, and designate a Financial Power of Attorney, Advance Healthcare Directive and HIPAA authorization — all of which come with the security of knowing they were drawn up by a team of experienced attorneys and are accepted in all 50 states.

Plus, LegalZoom can work with you to figure out whether a will or trust is right for you and your family. While a will is relatively simple, it needs to go to public probate court to be validated (which can take time and money), and it’ll be filed in public records. On the flip side, a trust bypasses probate and therefore stays private, but it requires title transfers.

Beyond that, you can also turn to LegalZoom for proactive Personal Attorney Plans — flat-rate subscriptions that ensure you have year-round guidance from experienced independent attorneys when it comes to everyday legal matters, like personal contracts, renting and family law.

Get started with LegalZoom today

When Is the Best Time to Buy Major Appliances?

Appliances don’t run on one calendar. Washers and dryers clear out in early fall, refrigerators hit lows in spring, and kitchen suites unlock the biggest package rebates. Here is how to time every purchase.

There’s a best time to buy every major appliance. There’s also the Tuesday your washer quits mid-load and you’re buying one whether the timing’s right or not. This covers both. The ideal window for each appliance, and what to do when you don’t get one. The thing that makes appliance timing confusing is that they don’t run on one calendar. The best time to buy a washer and dryer is nowhere near the best time to buy a refrigerator, so buying the whole kitchen on one weekend because a banner says sale means a decent price on some of it and full price on the rest.

Appliance Shopping Guide: Table of Contents

When is the best time to buy a washer and dryer?

The best time to buy a washer and dryer is late summer into fall, usually September and October, when the new models land and last year’s versions get marked down to clear the floor. The part that trips people up: the newest model is the one you pay the most for. A washer that came out last month is priced at the top, and the nearly identical one from last year, the one being pushed off the floor to make room, is where the deal is. For most people, a one-model-year-old washer is a fine choice, the changes are usually a new panel of settings you’ll never touch. You’re buying the same machine for less because the calendar says it’s old. Buy them as a pair when you can, that’s where the bundle pricing kicks in, and Costco‘s worth a look for a matched set around its holiday events.

When is the best time to buy a refrigerator?

The best time to buy a refrigerator is late spring, around May, because fridges break the pattern every other appliance follows. While most appliances get new models in fall, refrigerators debut in spring, so late spring is when last year’s models start clearing out. Memorial Day lands right in that window, which is why it’s one of the best fridge-buying weekends of the year. This is the one that catches people off guard, they assume every appliance is cheapest at the same time, so they buy the fridge in November with everything else and pay more than they would have in May. The holiday weekends do run fridge deals, and those are real, but they’re retailer events built around when the store wants a sale. The deepest markdowns come from the manufacturer clearing last year’s model, and that lines up with spring.

When should you buy a range, dishwasher, or full kitchen suite?

Ranges arrive in the new year, so late winter is when the previous models clear, but bought one at a time, ranges and dishwashers rarely see the dramatic markdowns laundry and fridges do. On their own, they’re steady, which is why the move is to stop buying them separately. The kitchen suite is where the savings live: buying the fridge, range, dishwasher, and microwave together, all one brand, unlocks package rebates a single-item purchase never touches. Brands like LG, Samsung, and Whirlpool build these bundle rebates specifically to get the whole kitchen, and they stack deeper than a store’s own markdown. And watch for the fee most people forget until it’s on the receipt: delivery, installation, and haul-away can run 50 to 150 dollars per appliance, and buying the suite usually gets those waived across the whole order. That’s savings that never show up on the sticker but land in what you actually pay.

What is an appliance outlet, and is it worth it?

An appliance outlet is where the single biggest discount in this whole guide lives, and there are two different kinds worth knowing. The first is the scratch-and-dent outlet, the one most people mean, retailers like Best Buy Outlet run channels for appliances that picked up a cosmetic ding somewhere between the factory and the floor. A dent on a side panel can knock 40 to 60 percent off a machine that works perfectly, and the placement is what makes it almost unfair. A built-in dishwasher sits wedged between two cabinets. A fridge sits with one side against a wall. You’re getting paid to accept a flaw that disappears the day it goes in.

The second kind surprises people: the manufacturer’s own outlet. KitchenAid and Whirlpool, among others, run outlet stores for brand-new discontinued models, not dented, not used, just last season’s version they’re moving out, with the same full warranty as any new appliance. The catch on the scratch-and-dent side is selection, you can’t count on finding the exact model you want, but if it’s a built-in that’s going to be boxed in anyway, it’s the closest thing to a loophole appliance shopping has.

What if my appliance breaks and I can’t wait?

If an appliance dies on you, don’t force the calendar, focus on what’s discounted right now for a fast reason: floor models, open-box units, the display that’s already marked down. Those give you a real cut without waiting for a model-year window that’s months away, and you stack whatever cash back is active on top. The calendar strategy only works when you have time, a planned remodel or an upgrade you’ve been meaning to do, and when you do have that time, it’s the thing that saves the most money. That’s when you buy the fridge in spring, the laundry in fall, the range in late winter, and let each one’s calendar do the work.

Buy it now, wait, or save: Appliance timing table

What you’re buyingBuy It Now, Wait, or SaveWhy
Last year’s model in its clearance window (laundry in fall, fridge in spring, range in late winter)Buy It NowSame machine as the new one, minus a year and a chunk of the price
Anything that launched in the last monthWaitGive it a few weeks toward its clearance window and it gets cheaper, sometimes a lot
Single kitchen units at full price on a random sale weekendSaveOutside a real rollout window or a suite rebate, that “sale” price is often just the price

How do you get the best price on an appliance?

The window gets you the discount. Stacking on top is how you get the rest. Whichever appliance you’re buying, the sticker price is never the whole story, check for whatever promo codes and cash back are available at the retailer before you commit, since the same appliance can come out cheaper at one store than another once it all applies. On a full kitchen suite especially, that difference adds up faster than on any single item. The RetailMeNot Rewards app is one place to check for those codes and cash back before you decide what something actually costs.
